DESTINATION -Florida tourism down sharply in the second quarter, but at slower rate than previously, tourism marketing agency Visit Florida Tuesday.
Number of visitors to the country down 9.4 percent to 20.1 million people, compared with the period April to June of the previous year.
Tourism Florida to the bank account about 20 percent of the sales tax collected.
In the second quarter, the volume of domestic travel to most countries fell significantly. Overseas visitors - including tourists from Canada and Mexico - fell 8 percent. Canadian visitors increased 5.2 percent from the same period last year.
National tourism also drop sharply this year, the U.S. Commerce Department reported Tuesday.
