DESTINATION -Cyprus tourism fell to 10.9 percent in first seven months, reflecting a downturn that has been to encourage the holiday island of recession.

Sectors, which generate revenues approximating between 10 and 11 percent of gross domestic product Cypriot, a decrease of view coming from the UK, with the main market, and Russia.

Until July 2009, tourist arrivals totalled 1.18 million, compared with 1.33 million during the same period in 2008, the statistics department said on Thursday. In July alone, coming down 11.2 percent from year to year.

Local industry representatives say the sector for the weak and that government incentives to prop up the industry too.
