Taronga Zoo

Built atop a large hillside on the opposite side of the city, the Taronga Zoo overlooks the iconic sights of Sydney Harbour. Take a scenic cable car ride to the top aboard the Sky Safari, and glide above the action while getting a sense of the lay of the land. Spanning over 70 acres (30 hectares) and home to over 2,600 animals, the zoo is one of the largest of its kind in the world.

Focused on conservation and providing a natural habitat for its animals, the zoo offers a unique safari-like expedition along its winding downhill paths, allowing you to experience its spectacular animals as organically as possible. Get up close and personal with kangaroos, wallabies, wild birds, and other animals inside the zoo’s popular walkthrough wildlife enclosures where curious critters and humans can get acquainted.

Exhibits and shows include: the Amazing Free Flight Bird show, overlooking Sydney Harbour; the Sydney Water Seal Show; photographic opportunities with koala bears; plus numerous daily animal keeper talks, popular amongst both young and old. The Taronga Zoo is a must-do Sydney attraction, where something fantastic awaits your exploration around every bend.
